The Headless Horseman rides again
Death Reapers hunt the Wilderness. The Pumpkin King waits with his generals. The Headless Horseman’s full outfit is yours to earn — no steed required.
The leaves are turning, the pumpkins are lit, and the Wilderness has company. Hooded Death Reapers wave through the wild while the Halloween Hunt is on. The Pumpkin King and his Minikin generals hold the seasonal boss spotlight. And the Headless Horseman — shopkeeper, wardrobe, and legend — never bothered to bring a horse.
The Halloween Hunt — what’s live now
While the hunt window is enabled, Death Reapers roam the Wilderness with
barrier-aware leashes (about 15% slower than full sprint so you can catch them).
They scale when you engage, and live hunt positions show on the custom world map.
Track counts and timers with ::hw (or ::halloween).
Full guide: ::hwinfo (or ::halloweeninfo).
- Death Reapers. Wave through the Wilderness for the duration of the hunt. Clear them, watch the timers, hunt again.
- The Pumpkin King. Separate boss encounters with four Minikin generals — earn Pumpkin Slices, candy, and seasonal loot.
- Headless Horseman outfit. Platebody, Cape, and Horseman’s Crowned Pumpkin from the Edgeville Holiday shop (Pumpkin Slices) or Horseman kill loot.
- World map. Live hunt icons mark the custom world map so you can hunt by sight.
- Mute spam. Festive hunt/bag shouts:
::wildraremsg off.
Why no horse?
Legend says a horseman needs a charger. RSCRevived’s Headless Horseman disagrees. Whatever took his head also took his patience for saddles. He walks. He runs. He cuts across the scrub the way the Reaper does — pumpkin lantern in hand, hollow collar catching the wind, utterly uninterested in your travel plans.
If you expected a mounted dungeon boss behind a graveyard gate, look again. This Horseman is a wilderness hunter, not a queue appointment — and he does not need a horse to get around.
How the fights feel
Hunt NPCs scale to the first player who engages them. Until then, Attack shows no combat level. Hits lock to that first engager; pile-ons update the displayed combat level only.
- Death Reapers. Mid-band scaling ramps from about +20% to +40% above you as combat climbs toward the top of the band. Bring food and prayer.
- Headless Horsemen. Same fight family as Reapers, then +30 levels harder on Attack, Strength, Defense, Hits, and combat when you meet one.
- Roam. Reapers wander the wild with a barrier-aware leash. Pace is tuned a touch slower than full sprint so you can actually catch them.
Loot — Reapers, Horsemen, and bags
Kill either hunter and you’ll see the shared seasonal haul: noted big bones, coins, food, ores, runes, and a bonus supply roll. On top of that:
- Headless Horseman only. Guaranteed wearable from the three-piece set (Platebody, Cape, or Horseman’s Crowned Pumpkin), plus an 18% chance at a second wearable on the same kill.
- Both hunters. 5.5% chance at a Halloween bag (Treat most often, then Witching, then the rare Reliquary). Bags can jackpot classic and custom masks, a Pumpkin, or the OG Scythe.
- Death Reaper tracking. Collection Log tracks your Reaper kills; milestones cheer in the world (mute cheers separately if you like).
The prize is the look — a full Horseman outfit
When you take down a wilderness Headless Horseman, you are hunting pieces of his own wardrobe — a complete wearable set for your character. No charger required to wear it either.
Headless Horseman Platebody
Dark plate of the Horseman — greaves travel with the set when worn.
Headless Horseman Cape
A tattered cape torn from the same night he lost his head.
Horseman's Crowned Pumpkin
A crowned pumpkin lantern — the head he chose instead.
How to obtain the set
- Holiday shop. Earn Pumpkin Slices from The Pumpkin King and his generals, then spend them with the Edgeville Headless Horseman shopkeeper for Platebody, Cape, or Crowned Pumpkin.
- Horseman kills. When a wilderness Headless Horseman falls, expect a guaranteed wearable piece, with a chance at a second piece on the same kill.
A night in the wilds
Picture it: deep enough that the minimap feels unfriendly. A Death Reaper drifts one ridge over — pumpkin lantern glow from the Holiday shop still in your mind, slices in the bank, plate waiting to be worn. No hoofbeats. Just the certainty that the Horseman does not need a horse when the Wilderness is wide enough to run and the King still waits inland for anyone hungry for a harder fight.
Watch the map. Check ::hw. Bring food for Reapers and Horsemen.
And when you see a rider with nowhere for a saddle to go… he was never waiting
on a horse anyway.
